June 1-5

Dear Sunshine Families, Last week: We started in on our Ocean/Beach unit. We will continue this week learning about some of the animals that live in the ocean. Last week we spent a couple days at Shumway Park; the kids had so much fun going on a walk over there and playing on the large play structure together. This week: We will continue learning about ocean creatures; we will make jelly fish and crabs and learn about the large creatures that live under the sea such as sharks, whales and octopus. We will also be working an end of the year art piece. I like to have each class make an art masterpiece that I leave in the room; it is a tradition I started 4 years ago when I moved to the Sunshine Class. We will work on this each day so every child gets a chance to be a part of this tradition. All School Picnic: Our two last days in class are June 8th and 9th. On June 10th we will meet at Felida Park for an all school picnic. We will bbq hotdogs provided by the school and will have a potluck sign up out for side dishes and drinks. Kids are welcome to bring Frisbees, bikes, and scooters (along with helmets) and we will spend our last morning together at the park! Sign up sheets will be out this week for the potluck items. Summer Camps: Little Acorn runs a couple fantastic summer camps in July! This year we will have Knights and Princess’s the week of July 13-17 and Superhero’s the week of July 20-24. Come to one or come to both; it’s a great way to keep your kids busy this summer! Registration packets are available in Katie’s office! Good-Byes: This is our last full week in class and it will be a week of fun! We have begun talking about the last days of school and our long summer break. I know many of you are coming back next year and the kids will be in classes together so it isn’t good bye forever! I want to take a moment and let everyone know how much it means to us that you have chosen Little Acorn and the Sunshine Class as your child’s first preschool experience. We have made so many fun memories together this year and the kids have really grown together! Thank you for all your support of our classroom and school; we wouldn’t be the great school we are without all of you awesome parents! Word Wall: The letter this week is ‘Y’.
