April 20-24

Dear Sunshine Families, Last week: We had a great week back from spring break! The week of the young child was spent with many fun guests, yummy snacks and outside playtime! The auction on Saturday night was great! Thank you everyone for your help with the baskets and your support at the auction, it was a huge success. This week: Our schedule will return to normal and with the nice weather we will plan to be outside every day. We are unable to apply sunscreen to the kids so it might be a good idea to apply it before class starts. This week we will be talking about rainbows and colors! We will create some really fun rainbow projects, talk about all the colors (primary and secondary) and make our own colors by mixing primaries. We will also begin some writing practice and write the color words. Kindred: We will go over to visit the grandmas and grandpas at Kindred this week on Wednesday and Thursday. We head over at 10:15 with the rest of the school and will sing some of our favorite songs and some new spring songs. Suessical Jr.: Mark your calendars for May 19th. We will be taking our last school field trip this day to see Journey children theater's production of Suessical Jr. This will be a fun family friendly live play; it is performed at Fort Vancouver High School at 9:30. If Tuesday is not your normal school day you are still welcome to join us for this trip. Penny Drive: In honor of a Little Acorn alumni, Grant Jensen, we will be holding a change drive for the next two weeks. The money raised here will be donated in Grant's name towards research to end childhood cancers, which took Grant's life too early. Grant attended Little Acorn and his grandmother was one of our teachers here. This family would be honored by having the Little Acorn family support this great cause! Volunteer Hours: If you would like to stay during class time to help with die cutting or laminating let me know! We will need some extra help in the coming weeks so if you are able to stay one morning let me know! Classroom Donations: We are in need of a few items. Baby wipes, Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer. Thank you for any contributions! Word Wall: The letter this week is ‘S’. Kids can bring in things that begin with the letter ‘S.
