April 13-17
Dear Sunshine Families,
Last week: I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break and were able to rest and relax. I spent the week with family, it was pretty great! I am sure, like me, everyone is ready to get back into the routine of school. This week is going to be busy and fun!
This week: Is the week of the young child. This a week to take to celebrate the young people in our lives. We will have special guests each day, yummy snacks and spirit days.
Monday: Storytime with Ryan Ellis, Silly Hair day and rice crispy treats for snack
Tuesday: Science with Christina Wheeler, Silly socks and silly hair day and Apples and Caramel dip for snack
Wednesday: Driver Darrell and the concrete truck, hat day and chicken nuggets for snack
Thursday: Vancouver Taekwondo Academy demonstration, stripes and dots day and vanilla wafers and bananas for snack
Friday: Fireman Scott, wear your favorite color and cheese pizza for snack
On top of all of this we will read one fun book in class each day and do a special activity to go along with it. We will read The Night Kitchen, Good Night Moon, Good Night Gorilla, The Day the Babies Crawled Away and Going on a Bear Hunt.
Penny Drive: In honor of a Little Acorn alumni, Grant Jensen, we will be holding a change drive for the next two weeks. The money raised here will be donated in Grant's name towards research to end childhood cancers, which took Grant's life too early. Grant attended Little Acorn and his grandmother was one of our teachers here. This family would be honored by having the Little Acorn family support this great cause!
Fundraisers: The auction is this coming Saturday! Classroom Baskets and art projects will be out for bidding this week and will end at the auction on Saturday. If you haven't purchased your tickets you can still so that this week!
Elevator: The elevator will be out of service this week as they work to replace a door sensor. Once it is back up and running the church has asked that it be used only by those with strollers or are unable to use the stairs. Children should never be in the elevator by themselves.
Volunteer Hours: If you would like to stay during class time to help with die cutting or laminating let me know!
Classroom Donations: We are in need of a few items. Baby wipes, Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer. Thank you for any contributions!
Word Wall: The letter this week is ‘R’. Kids can bring in things that begin with the letter ‘R’.
