Dec 1-5

Dear Sunshine Families, Last week: I hope everyone had a fantastic break, filled with family, food and fun! This week: we have 3 weeks before the winter break and a lot to get done! Our winter concert is next Monday, December 8th. We will get together with the other classes to practice every day this week. In class we will practice cutting skills with some winter worksheets and pattern using snowflakes. We will also make snowflakes to decorate the classroom. The bake sale was a huge success! Thank you to everyone that donated yummy treats and too those that purchased them. Winter Concert: We have begun practicing for our winter concert! This week we will practice in the sanctuary with the other classes. The concert is held in the evening on December 8th. The concert starts at 6:00, but kids need to be dropped off in class at 5:45. You can leave them with us and find a spot to sit upstairs in the sanctuary. We will bring the kids up for the concert and then release them to you after the performance. Mark your calendars because it is a great night! The scholastic book fair will be open next week during class hours and during the concert. Santa Breakfast: Our annual pancake breakfast is next Saturday, December 6th. Join us for a yummy breakfast, a special appearance from Santa and a small gift. Tickets are on sale in the office. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for kids. I'. looking forward to seeing you there! Winter Parties: The two field trips we were trying to plan did not work out so the last two days before break, Dec 18 and 19 will be regular class days. We will get together as a school to watch The Snowman and have a fun snack. I'll have more info as the dates get closer Food Drive: We will continue collecting non perishable food items until the winter break. These will go into food boxes that will be delivered to those in need. Thank you for your contributions! Fundraisers: “Shoparoo” Little Acorn is now a member of Shoparoo. It is a great way to fundraise for the school. November 17-21

Dear Sunshine Families, Last week: Thank you for being patient with our school closure last week. Our weather is often unpredictable and we want to make sure everyone is home safe if the streets are icy. We make the decision to close based on the Vancouver School District and the latest weather reports. If you haven't signed up for Remind you can do that with Katie in the preschool office. This week: We have a lot to get done this week! We will be busy working on last week's projects; the kids family houses, log cabins and stories about the people living in their home. We will also start on some really cute turkey projects and make thanksgiving cards for the 'grandmas and grandpas' over at Kindred. We will walk over there Wednesday and Thursday to sing and deliver the holiday cards. Family Fun Night: Family Fun Night is the Friday, November 21st! This is a free family event that includes many different holiday craft tables, cookie decorating and face painting. If anyone is interested on getting some volunteer hours we could use some help running our craft table, we will need help making sure there are enough supplies out and assisting families as they come do the craft. Fundraisers: Our next fundraiser is our annual bake sale. The sale will run during class times on Monday November 24 and Tuesday November 25. We are looking for donations of baked goods to be brought in those days. LAPSK Board Meet and Greet: Our meet and greet was canceled due to the weather; we have another one scheduled in January and we are looking to see if we can fit another one in before then. Winter Concert: we have begun practicing for our winter concert! This is held in the evening on December 8th. The concert starts at 6:00, mark your calendars because it is a great night! Food Drive: Our annual food drive is under way. We have a blue food box in the hallway that donations can be placed in. The church puts together food boxes to benefit those in our local community. Nov 10-14

Dear Sunshine Families, Last week: Conferences went great! It was so nice to sit with all you of you and chat about your kids and the fun things we are doing in the Sunshine Class. If we were unable to meet last week let's talk and make a plan for after school in the coming weeks. This week: We don't have class on Tuesday in observance of Veteran's Day. In class we will begin talking about friends and families, the holiday season is a time to celebrate the people we care for so we will be talking about those special people in our lives and why we love them. We will also learn about homes; everyone has one but many are different so we will look at all the different kinds of homes in the world. We will read In a People House and The Little House. LAPSK Board Meet and Greet: This week on Thursday you have the opportunity to stop in the Conrad room (the room by the upstairs drinking fountain) to meet our wonderful preschool board members. This is an opportunity to meet them, learn about what they do and share thoughts and ideas with them. Family Fun Night: The date of our family fun night has been changed to Nov 21st. This is a Friday rather than the Thursday it originally was. Our class is helping with a fun turkey project. We already have help prepping the project, now we are in need of some volunteers to help run the table during the event. This is a free event and so much fun, I hope everyone can make it! Fundraisers: Our next fundraiser is our annual bake sale. The sale will run during class times on Monday November 24 and Tuesday November 25. We are looking for donations of baked goods to be brought in those days. Fred Meyers gives back to schools! Kids can bring anything starting with the letter "G"! Inclement Weather: The weather is looking a little iffy this week. I just wanted to remind everyone that if the Vancouver School District is closed or has a two hour later start then we will be closed as well. If we are closed for the day I will send out an email as soon as I know, the preschool phone will have a message stating that we are closed. Nov 3-7

Dear Sunshine Families, I am sending out this week's newsletter early because I will be out of town this weekend. I hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween! Don't forget this weekend is daylight savings, set your clocks back an hour and take advantage of the extra time. Last Week: The week was so busy, we worked very hard on assessments. The kids did great and were so excited to work on tracing, cutting and shapes recognition. I am so excited to share all of this and other great work we are doing in class during conferences. Our class parties were great! It was so fun to see everyone dressed up. They had a great time parading through the school. This week: We will finish up our pumpkin print paintings and create spiders! We will also do our marble paint project since we did not get to it last week. Since we only have 3 days in class we will focus on finishing up our October/Fall Units. The following weeks we will start talking about Being Thankful, Friends and Families. Conferences: Conferences are being held this week; I am able to do some after class Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday we will not have class and will spend the day doing conferences. If you haven't had a chance to sign up the sheet is still out in the hall. Friday we will not have class as the church has an event in the church. Family Fun Night: Our fist family fun night is coming up on November 20th. We will host a make and take holiday craft night. This was so much fun last year and a great way to get in the holiday spirit. This is also a great opportunity to get some volunteer hours. We may have some prep work that can be done at home so If you are interested in helping out that way, let me know. They will also be help needed to set up and take down the night of the event. Word Wall: The letter this week is "G". Kids can bring anything starting with the letter "G"!
