November 17-21

Dear Sunshine Families, Last week: Thank you for being patient with our school closure last week. Our weather is often unpredictable and we want to make sure everyone is home safe if the streets are icy. We make the decision to close based on the Vancouver School District and the latest weather reports. If you haven't signed up for Remind you can do that with Katie in the preschool office. This week: We have a lot to get done this week! We will be busy working on last week's projects; the kids family houses, log cabins and stories about the people living in their home. We will also start on some really cute turkey projects and make thanksgiving cards for the 'grandmas and grandpas' over at Kindred. We will walk over there Wednesday and Thursday to sing and deliver the holiday cards. Family Fun Night: Family Fun Night is the Friday, November 21st! This is a free family event that includes many different holiday craft tables, cookie decorating and face painting. If anyone is interested on getting some volunteer hours we could use some help running our craft table, we will need help making sure there are enough supplies out and assisting families as they come do the craft. Fundraisers: Our next fundraiser is our annual bake sale. The sale will run during class times on Monday November 24 and Tuesday November 25. We are looking for donations of baked goods to be brought in those days. LAPSK Board Meet and Greet: Our meet and greet was canceled due to the weather; we have another one scheduled in January and we are looking to see if we can fit another one in before then. Winter Concert: we have begun practicing for our winter concert! This is held in the evening on December 8th. The concert starts at 6:00, mark your calendars because it is a great night! Food Drive: Our annual food drive is under way. We have a blue food box in the hallway that donations can be placed in. The church puts together food boxes to benefit those in our local community. Fundraisers: Fred Meyers gives back to schools! Go to https://www.fredmeyer.com/topic/community-rewards-4 to register your rewards card and give back to Little Acorn Preschool and Kindergarten. Word Wall: We are continuing with the letter "H" this week. Kids can bring anything starting with the letter "H"! Inclement Weather: If the Vancouver School District is closed or has a two hour later start then we will be closed as well. If we are closed for the day I will send out an email as soon as I know and the preschool phone will have a message stating that we are closed. We also use the Remind system, you can get that info from Katie in the office.
