Dec 1-5
Dear Sunshine Families,
Last week: I hope everyone had a fantastic break, filled with family, food and fun!
This week: we have 3 weeks before the winter break and a lot to get done! Our winter concert is next Monday, December 8th. We will get together with the other classes to practice every day this week. In class we will practice cutting skills with some winter worksheets and pattern using snowflakes. We will also make snowflakes to decorate the classroom. The bake sale was a huge success! Thank you to everyone that donated yummy treats and too those that purchased them.
Winter Concert: We have begun practicing for our winter concert! This week we will practice in the sanctuary with the other classes. The concert is held in the evening on December 8th. The concert starts at 6:00, but kids need to be dropped off in class at 5:45. You can leave them with us and find a spot to sit upstairs in the sanctuary. We will bring the kids up for the concert and then release them to you after the performance. Mark your calendars because it is a great night! The scholastic book fair will be open next week during class hours and during the concert.
Santa Breakfast:
Our annual pancake breakfast is next Saturday, December 6th. Join us for a yummy breakfast, a special appearance from Santa and a small gift. Tickets are on sale in the office. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for kids. I'. looking forward to seeing you there!
Winter Parties: The two field trips we were trying to plan did not work out so the last two days before break, Dec 18 and 19 will be regular class days. We will get together as a school to watch The Snowman and have a fun snack. I'll have more info as the dates get closer
Food Drive: We will continue collecting non perishable food items until the winter break. These will go into food boxes that will be delivered to those in need. Thank you for your contributions!
Fundraisers: “Shoparoo” Little Acorn is now a member of Shoparoo. It is a great way to fundraise for the school. Parents just need to download the Shoparoo App. Snap pictures of your receipts from any store, big or small, that sells grocery items to earn Roo Points (cash donations) for your school. Whether you’re shopping at a supercenter, dollar store, or local convenience store - it doesn’t matter where you shop or what items you buy - Shoparoo will make a cash donation for every receipt! Submit up to 20 grocery receipts within a rolling 7 day period. Parents can scan receipts from restaurants, department stores, hardware stores, craft stores, electronics, sports stores, office supply, bookstores and cafĂ©’s. Shoparoo will not ask for personal information and all information is anonymous. Check out Shoparoo.com
Fred Meyers gives back to schools! Go to https://www.fredmeyer.com/topic/community-rewards-4 to register your rewards card and give back to Little Acorn Preschool and Kindergarten.
Word Wall: We are continuing with the letter "I" this week. Kids can bring anything starting with the letter "I"!
Inclement Weather: If the Vancouver School District is closed or has a two hour later start then we will be closed as well. If we are closed for the day I will send out an email as soon as I know and the preschool phone will have a message stating that we are closed. We also use the Remind system, you can get that info from Katie in the office.
