May 4-8
Dear Sunshine Families,
Last week: We had so much fun planting! We got our corn in a bag planted as well as our green beans. We will be created a documentation piece as our beans grow. We didn’t get to plant our mini sunflowers so we will do that this week. Last week we also got caterpillars; we watched as they grew each day and even started forming chrysalis’s. This week we will move them into their butterflu enclosure and wait until they re-emerge.
This week: Our focus will be on bugs! We will learn more about the lifescycle of butterflies and will compare the differences between insects with 6 legs and arachnids with 8 legs.
We started assessments last week and will continur on with them this week. We love this time we get to spend one on one and in small groups with the kids. I will send the report cards home the week of May 25-29. If you have any questions feel free to email me and we can set up a time to further discuss your child’s progress. This is also a great time to discuss a classroom for your child for the 2015-2016 school year if you haven’t decided yet.
Suessical Jr.:
If you signed up last week we have you down for our field trip May 19th. As you probably heard the auditorium is overbooked so if you are interested in going to the later show, at 11:45 late Katie or I know and we will put you down for that. We will not have class that day.
Summer Camps: Little Acorn runs a couple fantastic summer camps in July! This year we will have Knights and Princess’s the week of July 13-17 and Superhero’s the week of July 20-24. Come to one or com to both; it’s a great way to keep your kids busy this summer! Registration packets are available in Katie’s office!
Volunteer Hours: Playground cleanup is our last all school volunteer opportunity. We will work on Saturday morning, May 16th to spruce up the playground. It is a fun and easy way to get your volunteer hours in.
If you would like to stay during class time to help with die cutting or laminating let me know! We will need some extra help in the coming weeks so if you are able to stay one morning let me know!
Classroom Donations: We are in need of a few items. Baby wipes, Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer. Thank you for any contributions!
Word Wall: The letter this week is ‘U’. Kids can bring in things that begin with the letter ‘U’.
