Dear Sunshine Families, This kids had a lot of fun reading Leo Lioni stories, noticing the similarities of the illustrations and creating their own Leo art. This week we will focus on Eric Carle and his collage style illustrations. Many children are familiar with Eric Carle stories and it's always fun look deeper into some of their favorite books to recreate the art. Art: The kids will work together to create a large Very Hungry Caterpillar, we will do spin art to make spider webs; like the Very Busy Spider and begin on our auction art work. Social/Emotional: We will spend some time mixing colors and painting paper to use for our Eric Carle art. Literacy: We will read The Very Hungry Caterpiller, The Very Busy Spider and Brown Bear Brown Bear, What do you see. Extras: Our annual auction is quickly approaching. We will be starting our classroom auction items in class this week; this will be a piece of art done by the kids. We will also start collecting items for our auction basket; a sign up will be out for that this week. The school is also looking for donations of goods and services; if you have any way of securing donations that would be great. All donations are tax deductable since we are a nonprofit program.
