Dear Sunshine families,

Reminder: No school on Monday Jan 20th in observance of Martin

Luther King Jr. day.

This week we will learn about cold weather animals. We briefly talked

about polar bears last week. This week we will focus on penguins. We

have some cute penguin crafts and will learn about the different kinds

of penguins and the sizes they are.

Social/Emotional- Next week, Jan 31 is our next family fun night. We will be decoration cookies and watching the winter movie "The Snowman and his dog". I hope you can make it to this family friendly event. I have a sign up on the bulletin board by the door; if you could sign up so we can get a head count that'd be great.

Art- Will trace each child foot to make a footprint penguin. We will also make penguin handprints!

Literacy- This week we will read: Peirre the Penguin and Penguins

Math/science: We will mix up oobleck; a combination of corn starch and water!

Extras:   

We will begin collecting payment for our fieldtrip to see Good Night Moon. The cost is $5 per person attending. You can give money to Katie or I, or directly to Maria.

Inclement weather policy: If Vancouver School districts are closed or have a 2-hour late start we will not have class. If you are ever not sure you can call the preschool office and a recording stating that we are closed will be posted. I also try to email families as soon as I know if school is canceled.
