Dear Sunshine families,
This week
we will continue learning about ice and snow. We will talk
about the
fun activities people do in snow such as skiing, sledding and
building
snow men!
Social/Emotional- We will have a snowflake station this week.
The kids will use their fine motor skills to cut and create snowflakes.
Art- Each day we will
work together to build a snowman for the classroom, we will also create a snowy slope on our
bulletin board and make snow covered tree.
Literacy- This week we will read: Snowy vacation, What Snowmen
do at Night and The Snowman. This week we will begin letter writing practice
during our table time. each child will have an alphebet packet to work on. The
letter are not in the packet alphabetically but rather start with straight
lines and advance to curved letters.
Math/science: Last week the kids really enjoyed working
together to melt the ice cubes and get the dinosaurs out; this week we will
continue that using colored see salt water.
Extras:
We need a count for our upcoming fieltrip to The Northwest
childrens theater production of Good Night Moon. Please sign up as soon as
possible so we can reserve our seats!
Inclement weather policy: If Vancouver School districts are
closed or have a 2-hour late start we will not have class. If you are ever not
sure you can call the preschool office and a recording stating that we are
closed will be posted. I also try to email families as soon as I know if school
is canceled.
In February we will take a field trip to see a play by the
Northwest Children's Theatre. On February 12th we will not be in class and as a
school attend this fun play! I will have a sign up out this week so we can get
an idea of how many will attend.
