Dear Sunshine Families This week is the first full week of spring. After this nice, sunny weekend the flowers are in full bloom. In class we will make flowers to decorate the classroom. We will also take about spring weather; the weather patterns change from day to day during the spring months. This week we will begin doing a letter of the week. Each week we will focus on a different letter; we will practice writing the letter and talk about things that start with the letter sound. This week we will do letter "W" for wind. The kids may bring in a sharing item that begin with the letter "W". The items that are brought in will be saved for sharing; they will not be played with or used during classtime. The upcoming auction was canceled due to low interest in ticket sales. We will instead hold a silent auction to auction off the goods collected, the classroom baskets and the classroom art pieces. Art: The kids will make water color flowers, windy art and puff paint clouds. Math/Science: We will experiment with ways to make wind to move objects. We will use a blow dryer and paint to make a windy painting. Literacy: We will read Cloudette, Welcome, Spring and Sarah's Boots. Extras: We have received just about all of the birthday party basket donations. If anyone is interested in putting the basket together let me know! It's going to look great! We have 2 full weeks of class before spring break. We will not have class April 7-11.
