Sept 30- Oct 4


Dear Sunshine families,     

        This week we will jump into fall! We will begin creating projects to decorate our classroom. We will also talk about fall weather; wind, rain and cool days. we have some art projects to go along with weather.

ASQ's are being sent home this week. This is a developmental assessment tool to gage where every child is at. It helps us determine what area's to focus on in class and as a school. Please work with your child to fill it out and send it back in to me or Maria. In the coming weeks we will also begin doing in class assessments in class and will go over them during conferences in November.

Social/Emotional- I sent the" all about me" book home last week. If you did not recieve one please let me know. As the kids return them we will present them at circle time. Also; we need an individual picture of your child. If you have sent one in, thank you; if not we'd love it if you could get it to us soon.

Art- We will do windy art using a blow dryer and rainy art with spray bottles. We will also make fall leaves for the classroom.

Math/Science- Over the next couple weeks we will chart our weather patterns and count how many days we have rain and how many are windy.

Literacy- This week we will read; Fall, What the Wind Blew In, and

Volunteer Time- Carnival is this Friday!!! We still have many spots to fill for the dino dig. Please take a look at the sign up and see if you can help. We need 2 people for each 30 minute time slot. There are also opportunities to help during the day for set up and after carnival for take down. Sign up are on Maria's door. Carnival bracelets will be on presale until Wednesday for $10; after that they will be $15.

Extras: This year we are tie dying purple shirts for the sunshine class. These shirts can be worn to field trips and when we walk over to kindred. There is a sign up sheet if you are interested a shirt; please mark what size you would like. Samples are posted on the large bulletin board so you can get an see what the sizes look like.. We are asking for $5 a shirt to cover the cost of tie dye materials.
