May 19-23
Dear Sunshine Families
The kids had so much fun with transportation that we will continue with it this week. After painting with our cars they are in need of a wash, so we will set up a car wash station. We will also make a couple parking garages to park our vehicles.
Summer camp registration is in full swing. We are offering 2 weeks of camp this year. Camp runs from 9:00-12:00. Each week there will be 2 options, the first week the themes offered are Dinosaurs or Disney and the second week themes are Princess and Pirates or Lego's. Each week will include outside water play (weather permitting), fun snacks and a camp keepsake! Registration form can be found by the sign in sheet and upstairs in the office.
The letter for this week is 'C' for Car!
We are trying to plan a bus trip for next week; I will let you know more when we have worked out the details:)
Art: We will make cars and tell stories about where the passengers are going and we will also decorate sailboats to float on the river on the bulletin board
Math/Science: The kids have been excited to watch their corn and beans grow. We will send the corn home this week and the beans we will keep for another week to continue our observation and documentation of their growth.
Our math and science family fun night is coming up next Friday, May 30th, from 5:30-7:00. We will be playing a life size board game, will test sink or float items, making volcanoes and flying paper airplanes. We will make and eat root beer floats! It is going to be a great night; we are also inviting any preschool age friends you have that might want to check out our school!
Literacy: This week we will read My Truck is Stuck and Sheep in a Jeep.
Extras:
Playground cleanup is June 7th!!! We will be repainting the playhouse, bridge and toybox. This is a great way to complete volunteer hours. Bring your garden gloves, shovels and rakes and help us spread new gravel, pull weeds and clean up the play structures and house!
As the weather gets nicer bikes will be out more often! It can be hard to know if they will be set out until we get to school and determine the weather, but if it looks like dry weather they should be out! Helmets can be brought everyday or left at school if you choose.
If you are on Facebook or ever if you aren't make sure you check out our Little Acorn page. We keep up to date information regarding events and things happening in the classrooms! Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Little-Acorn-Preschool-and-Kindergarten/111773625573378
