Dear Sunshine Families Last week we started talking about bugs, this week we will continue with bugs and begin talking about gardens and the things people plant in their gardens. Next week we will begin planting flowers and vegetables in class. Donations of peat pots and potting soil are greatly appreciated! The letter for this week is 'I' for insect!. We will get creative to make letter I out of paper scraps. Art: We will make and label the parts of a flower and paint geometric butterflies. We will also make flower prints with mums and daisies! Math/Science: Izzy Inchworm books, The kids will plant corn in a bag. Literacy: This week we will read A Garden for Miss Mouse and Planting a Rainbow. The kids will work on a mini book about plants. Extras: Last week I had playground cleanup day written on May 17, the actual day for playground cleanup is June 7th. This is a great way to complete volunteer hours. Bring your garden gloves, shovels and rakes and help us spread new gravel, pull weeds and clean up the play structures and house!
