week of Oct 14-18


Dear Sunshine families,     

We had so much fun last week decoratedfor fall and making applesauce! This week we will talk about farms and pumpkins! Our Bizi farm fieldtrip is this week; Thursday and Friday. We will not be in class those days; we will meet at the farm at 9:45. We will meet rain or shine. It is a good idea to dress in layers; wear boots or old shoes and have an extra set of clothes in the car. Also; there is grain to feed the goats. The machine takes quarters.

Social/Emotional- Our Bizi Farm trip is here! I'll have directions out this week and we will plan to meet there at 9:45, our trip starts at 10:00.They have asked that only one adult attend with each enrolled child, extra adults are welcome to attend, they will just need to pay at the patch.  Younger siblings are welcome as well, children 1 year or younger are free, children older than 1 year will need to pay at the patch.  The cost this year is $5.00 per child.  The price includes: visiting the animals, mini-maze, hay pyramid, covered hay ride to the patch and a pumpkin.  Children will receive a bag for their pumpkin  must be able to carry their pumpkin from the patch without adult assistance.  Parents may purchase extra pumpkins at the patch for the going rate per pound. 

Art- The kids will make pumpkin prints, wax paper stained glass pumpkins and

Math/Science- This week we will begin our fall assessments; we will work one on one and in small groups to assess and document fine motor skills, letter and number recognition and counting skills.

Literacy- This week we will read; Marley and the runaway Pumpkin, Mrs. Wishy Washy's Farm and Who took the farmers hat?

 

Extras:

A sign up sheet is out for conference times. Conferences are schedule for November 7th; this is a no school day. Friday November 8th is also a No school day as the church has an event in the building that day.  If Thursday Nov 7th doesn't work for you please let me know and we will schedule a different conference time.

We have begun dyeing shirts. If you haven't paid for yours please do by the end of the week. If you haven't signed up for one but do want one let me know.

ASQ's need to be turned in as soon as possible. We will use these as an assessment tool for conferences which will be held in November.
